A new report from the PwC US and Urban Land Institute’s Emerging Trends in Real Estate ranks Fort Lauderdale as the sixth top city for real estate investing. Fort Lauderdale jumped 29 spots from the previous year to take it 's place among the elite investment cities in the United States.

With Hurricane Irma already slamming islands in the Caribbean and moving closer to Florida, counties in South Florida have begun making preparations and Governor Rick Scott already declared a State of Emergency. Schools in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach are closed on Thursday and Friday.

Miami ranked as the second-fastest growing big city in the country last year, according to new census data. From July 1, 2015 to July 1, 2016, the population of Miami grew 2.9 percent, with 12,715 people moving to the city. It was the biggest increase this decade.

North Shore Open Space Park in Miami Beach's beautiful North Shore neighborhood is set to receive a stunning new makeover. The 35-acre oceanfront park will get paved walkways, a paved beach walk, more open vegetation and two additional entrances. The paved beach walk will allow for roller blading and biking all the way from 87th Terrace to South Beach's South Pointe Park.

Out of the 50 largest American real estate markets, 4 out of the top 5 are located in Florida, according to online marketplace Ten-X. Palm Beach County came in second place, with Fort Lauderdale following right behind in third. Orlando took the top spot, and Tampa took fourth place. Dallas, Texas was the only city in the top 5 not located in Florida. Each metro area on the list boasted a robust combination of high demand, price appreciation, economic growth and demographic growth.

Known as the "Yachting Capital of the World", Fort Lauderdale will host a wide variety of smaller vessels and superyachts, along with showcases featuring yacht builders, brokerage yachts and exotic cars. FLIBS is the top boat show in the world and brings over 125,000 people to the city each year.
