Miami Beach Edition Comes to South Beach

Miami Beach Edition is the newest addition to the luxury hotel and residences in Miami Beach. Located on South Beach this new boutique hotel project will include 26-high-end residences, restaurants, a nightclub, bowling alley and ice skating rink.

“The hotel and residences are kind of dedicated to the good life and to make staying in Miami really easy and effortless, and make it the art of living rather than the job of living,” said Ian Schrager, celebrity hotelier who is partnering with the Marriott on this project.

Schrager is planning on owning one of the luxury oceanfront residences at the Miami Beach Edition. The hotel will be located near many of the best restaurants and night life in the area. Each residence will be steps away from the beach with magnificent views of the ocean in most units.

The Miami Beach Edition will take the place of the Seville Beach Hotel that is located at 2901 Collins Avenue. The Seville Beach Hotel was built in 1955, and was considered a playground for the rich and famous. The hotel was gutted for a redevelopment project that fell through, and was purchased for fifty seven million and five hundred thousand dollars.  

John Pawson, an architect known for his less-is-more design, put his unique mark on the Miami Beach Edition creating a chic and modern building.

The Miami Beach Edition is set to be 18-stories high and will open in 2014.  The price range per square foot is about three thousand dollars. The residential units will be on the top two floors of the hotel.

“It’s a price that’s kind of in the stratosphere,” Schrager said.

Miami is the perfect location for a hotel and residences on this scale. One Edition hotel has opened in Istanbul and there are plans to open others in London, New York, Bangkok, Abu Dhabi, Los Angeles and India. Edition hotels and residences are for the luxury buyer with very fine taste. Schrager has seen many of the changes that have taken place in Miami over the past few years. 

 “Now I think Miami is no longer just a vacation city,” said Schrager. “It’s is an international 24-hour gateway city that people all around the world want to live in.”
