Miami is an important center of culture, finance, entertainment and international trade throughout the United States and the world. A thriving destination for business and recreation, Miami continues to attract tourists, snowbirds and permanent residents from around the globe. Known for its year-round sunshine and sparkling turquoise waters, Miami is undoubtedly a covetable place to call home.
The estimated population of the city of Miami is around 453,579, while the population of metropolitan Miami is 5,564,000. The fifth-largest urban area in the United States, Miami offers an eclectic and energizing mix of cultures, architecture and entertainment.
Mainland Miami is comprised of various neighborhoods west of Biscayne Bay and the Miami Beach barrier island. The average winter high temperature ranges from 73 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit (23 to 27 degrees Celsius), and the temperature only drops below 50 degrees Fahrenheit (10 degrees Celsius) 10 to 15 nights per year.
Downtown Miami is the heart of the city and a bustling area of new residential and commercial development. It is home to the largest number of international banks and finance centers in the United States. It also hosts a number of parks, museums, cultural centers and entertainment venues. With 300 high rises and more currently under construction, the Miami skyline from Brickell up to Edgewater is regarded as the third-most impressive skyline in the United States. The amazing collection of innovative architecture and its twinkling reflection off the water is indeed a spectacular sight.
For entertainment and recreation opportunities, Miami's mainland is hard to beat. The downtown, Brickell, Arts and Entertainment District and Edgewater neighborhoods are home to world-class shops, restaurants, museums, parks and cultural institutions. Downtown Miami hosts the Perez Art Museum Miami (PAMM), Frost Museum of Science, Miami Worldcenter, Brickell City Centre, Bayfront Marketplace, Bayfront Park, Museum Park and more. The Adrienne Arsht Center for Performing Arts is the second-largest performing arts venue in the country, and the Port of Miami is the busiest cruise port in the world. Downtown Miami also hosts the Miami Heat NBA team at American Airlines Arena and the Miami Marlins MLB team at Marlins Park.
Miami hosts popular festivals and events throughout the year. Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Miami is held in the Wynwood Arts District, and Ultra Music Festival is held in March during Miami Music Week at Bayfront Park. Every second Saturday of each month, a community-wide art walk is held in Wynwood to showcase the more than 70 galleries and famous Wynwood Walls.
Miami luxury condos are no longer second to Miami Beach luxury condos. New developments currently under construction in Miami are some of the most highly anticipated projects in the entire United States. Zaha Hadid's 1000 Museum condominium tower is rising over Museum Park and Biscayne Bay, and Aston Martin is bringing its first venture into residential real estate to the shores of the Miami River. Coconut Grove is now home to the recently completed Grove at Grand Bay towers and the nearly complete Park Grove towers.
